Our World, Our Industry, and Your Future Clients...

...Are All Starving For This One Thing.

As I sit here after placing the finishing touches on an outline for an upcoming Facebook Live, encouraging our son (who is practicing his newest gymnastic move on the floor near my desk), thanking our team for rocking it this week, and considering what’s ahead for the New Year… two other important things are also on my mind and heart.

The state of our world.

And the state of our industry.

We were just two passionate people determined to transform the world through increasing the quality of life for each client we had the honor to serve. Touching hearts and allowing healing to unfold, one person at a time through our coaching and acupuncture practices.

Through a series of spiritual experiences that aligned our way of selling with the way we did our transformational work… HeartsellingTM was accidentally born.

Attracting a new client became about empowering another human being to make a choice that was best for them, whether that choice meant they worked with us or not. Having conversations in this way magnetized so many new clients we loved working with quickly and our friends started asking us how we were doing it.

We started sharing our methods with them, organically, one person to one person. Then we started doing small workshops that also happened organically, through connection.

And then one step led to another, and now we’re here...

We’ve employed hundreds of people, spoken in front of 50,000 Coaches and Holistic Practitioners, had over 8,000 people attend our live events and watched our clients collectively generate over $100 Million, all using heart centered client attraction strategies…

We’ve seen so much in this industry.

Our company, Thrive Academy, has not only survived but thrived and grown each year in the transformational space.

And that’s not an easy thing.

They did it because we gave them the templates and the systems that worked for us, and they took those proven systems and made it THEIRS. They did it because they were willing to look deep within and develop their authentic voices and offered authentic value.

They connected the strategy with the hearts of those they are meant to help. They did it through 1-on-1 connection until they were so confident in getting new clients, they could scale while still maintaining the integrity of the intimacy that earned them the trust of their community in the first place.

They did it by keeping love and connection front and center, just like we always have and always will.

There is a lot of pain in our industry, the “Transformation Industry” right now. There is a lot of pain in the world right now. I can’t help but think it’s all connected.

We’ve been reaching out to coaches and holistic practitioners within the greater community at large to learn more about their pain and how they are moving through to continue bringing their vision into the world.

We love our industry and are looking to answer the question... “How can we move forward together, and better?”

While so many people talk about automation and scale and “crushing it,” I can’t help but feel that the internet and our industry in general has to make a move back toward connection, intimacy and love.

Where people feel seen, heard, understood… and something most people don’t want to talk about, but HAND HELD. Our clients rock it because we are there for them. Because we consistently meet in person. Because our programs have never become so automated that any member of our community gets left behind.

It’s the same in the world. The pain is visceral. People are hurting each other at unprecedented rates and in increasingly violent ways because they themselves are hurting. Because they are starving to be seen, known, and loved. I believe together, doing our work, touching lives, we can be that for them, organically and one person at at time.

Every time one of you reaches out and touches another life, helps a client breakthrough a limiting belief or pattern, you create a space for another human being to experience the authentic connection that both our industry, and our world, are starving for right now.

I believe that increasing connection in an increasingly disconnected industry and world is the heart and spirit of what we do at Thrive. It’s what our clients do. It’s what their clients do. And it’s how we are slowly transforming this world while also raising our two sons based on the same principles.

When people feel held, they do their best work and reach the greatest heights of success. When people feel seen and loved, it becomes harder for them to hurt others.

There’s so much going on right now sometimes it makes my head spin, and often makes my heart hurt. But I know from 13 years of leading a global movement that together we move through it.

Are You Ready for an Assistant?

About nine years ago, we realized we were at a crossroads in our business. We were pulling all nighters to get our work done and working crazy hours on a regular basis. We felt dog-tired and burnt out, but at the same time we didn't think we could afford to hire someone to help us.

We were making enough money to pay our own bills, but we were afraid to take the leap of hiring an Assistant ...would we be able to get enough clients to cover his or her salary?

So we were at the crossroads that most Coaches, Practitioners, and Entrepreneurs reach at one time or another (and if you're not already there, you'll probably be there at some point)... the point when you realize you just can't do it alone.

Frankly, you shouldn't want to do it alone. Why? Because not only is it so much more fun to do it with support; more importantly, there are things that you shouldn't be spending time on in your business. These are the things that drag you down and shut down your energy. You know what these tasks are because these are the tasks you typically procrastinate.

And the truth is: if you want to grow beyond just you in a private practice (and especially if you want a six figure-plus business), you're just not going to be able to do it without some support.

So we're going to recommend a powerful strategy that you need to implement to get to the next level in your business: BUILD YOUR SUPPORT TEAM!

So what is a support team?

A support team is made up of the people you bring in to support you to do what you do best. They help YOU serve more people by taking care of tasks that you don't like or you're just not good at. And they give you more space and time to do what you do best...serve your clients.

The good news is that you can start small. You can start by hiring an Assistant for as little as $12-$20 per hour for just five hours per week. Even though it may not seem like a lot of time, there's so much that can be accomplished in five hours.

Just think about five hours full of things you don't want to do. Give them to someone else to
complete. Imagine what would be possible for you and your business! You can use this time to do the things that generate income for you.

The great thing about hiring someone, even for just a few hours a week, is that you'll be sending the Universe a clear message that you do not want to run your business alone and that you're willing to accept help.

Quick tip: Make sure they create checklists for everything while you’re training them to take stuff over for you. This way, they won’t need to come back and ask you questions all the time, and when it’s time to have someone new take over their tasks, you’ve got an easy training manual.

And now that you've gained back five hours of your life each week (and tons of energy because you're no longer drained by doing tasks you hate), use that additional time and energy to have more Heartselling conversations, get more speaking gigs, rest and play.

In other words, shift your focus from administrative work to attracting more clients, and you'll see a huge return on your investment very quickly.

Build Your List Fast, Part II

However, I didn’t tell you how we went from a local list of 300 people to over 24,000 people within just a few years! I saved THAT story for today’s article...

So how DO YOU add hundreds, or even thousands, of new subscribers to your list within just a few days?

You build powerful relationships with powerful players...

These relationships are commonly referred to as “JVs” - or Joint Venture partnerships.

Ideal JV partners have large communities of your ideal clients. When you partner to promote each other, they send out an email to their list promoting YOU.

What’s the best thing to offer in this kind of promotion? You want to offer a FREE GIFT to their people (like I talked about in last month’s article). So when they sign up for that, they also sign up for your email list. And... voila ... you build your list FAST!

What most people don't know is that these types of relationships almost always happen through meeting someone live at an event or getting a personal introduction.

One of our best JVs happened when one of our clients introduced us to Eben Pagan. (If you don't know who he is, he is one of the best Internet marketers in the world.)

Eben watched Rose Cole go from $45,000 to $250,000 in one year while going through our Six Figure Speaker program. He was impressed with the results she got and asked to meet us.

This introduction ended up adding 1,100 people to our list in one day and $31,000 in sales!

So you can see how a great JV can do wonders for your business.

In order to attract potential JV partners, here are two things you need to do:

1. Create a great reputation for yourself

Having a great reputation is something to always strive for in your business. Many people won't even consider promoting you until they are 100% sure that anyone they send your way will come back thanking them for the introduction.

We are constantly updating and improving our programs so our clients continue to get better and better results. Because we’re committed to delivering tons of value and having our clients get great results, we have a great reputation among our colleagues.

Make sure you provide the very best service and value to your clients that you are capable of...and always strive to improve in this area.

2. Get a great introduction and add value

Getting an introduction where you are positioned as an authority on a topic and as a high integrity person puts you on the fast track to creating these types of partnerships.

And when you do get an introduction, the best thing to start with is by asking what they are working on and how you might be able to help them. Can you make an introduction? Can you recommend software or another resource that will help them?

Starting out this way creates a great way to connect. This doesn't necessarily mean they will promote you right away. But you would be surprised how many times someone will turn around and ask you the same question. And then you can let them know what you're working on and that you are looking for promotional partners so you can reach more people.

When you focus on building a real relationship with your potential JV partners, you’ll find that not only do you build your list fast, you also have more fun doing it.

5 Steps to Build Your List...FAST

You've heard that growing your email list makes it easier to attract new clients. But most coaches, practitioners and entrepreneurs don't realize that there are simple ways to build your list that can be really fun and fast!

We now have over 24,000 people on our email list. It's taken us nine years to get to this point with lots of trial and error. If we knew then what we know now, we could have built a list from scratch of this size in less than a year.

Sharla Jacobs sharing hot tips at a recent Thrive live eventChances are, you're either just starting to think about building your list, or you've already got the right elements in place and are looking for ways to grow your list FAST.

When we first started out, we had a list of nine people who were friends and were ideal candidates for what we were offering. We quickly built our list to 300 local people within just a few short months.

Here are the 5 steps we took to build our list quickly:

1. We created a free offering (a local free live evening event that was an introduction to something that would benefit them).

2. We made phone calls and used our Heartselling skills to find out what they were looking for and to see if what we were offering was a match.

3. For those where it was a match, we invited them to our event.

4. Before we hung up, we made sure to get permission to give them free tips if they wanted to be added to our email list (it's essential you get permission before subscribing someone to your list).

5. Lastly, we asked for an introduction to anyone for whom this might be a good match.

We also attended a few other live local events where we knew our ideal clients would be hanging out and had short conversations where we could follow up after meeting. In many cases, it made sense to just offer our live introductory event right there after meeting for the first time.

Within a few short months, all of those referrals turned into an email list of over 300 people. And when we launched our first big two day live event, we had 94 people register. And the rest is history.
