Start Your 2015 Visioning NOW

Many coaches and holistic practitioners wait until the last two weeks of the year to start planning for the next year.  We recommend you don’t wait… and start your visioning and planning NOW.

So over the next four weeks, you’ll get a mini-course on how to prepare for the New Year so you can start off with a bang!OWC-Sharla-small (533x800)

Here is what we’re going to cover over the next four weeks:

Today: How to Get Clear on Your Vision for Income and Impact

Dec 11: How to Get Clear on the Vehicle(s) You’ll Use to Achieve Your Vision

Dec 18:  How to Make the Internal Shifts Necessary to Achieve Your Vision

Dec 23: (Tuesday instead of our usual Thursday) How to Make the External Shifts Necessary to Achieve Your Vision

Even though Jesse and I aren’t so good at planning (our team complains about this), we’ve made many millions serving awesome people like you.

How do we do it?

We’re ALWAYS visioning into our future about how we can have more impact in the world!  And in the last month of every year, this visioning is intensified because we’re looking into a new year.

There are four important areas to look at when visioning into the next year.  You’ll get the first today and the rest in the remaining weeks of 2014.

The First: How you’re going to increase your income and impact.  And we like to think of income and impact as two sides of the same coin.

If you’re having a greater impact in the world, you’ll make a greater income.  And if your income increases, it’s a sign you’re having great impact. So you can actually measure your impact by measuring your income.

Now we can keep it simple and look at how to increase your income in 2015, so you can start planning for the shifts you’ll need to make.

When you boil it down, there are only three ways to increase your income.

1. Raise Your Rates

2. Get More Clients

3. Have Clients Stay with You Longer

If you want to increase your income and impact, you’ll need to choose which one of these you’ll focus on for 2015.  (And you may even want to multiply your increase by working on two or three at a time!)

1.  Raise Your Rates

When we recommend raising your rates during our Client Attraction Summit, many of the coaches and holistic practitioners attending look visibly confronted. Many are already having a hard time getting people to say yes at their current rates.

But what they don’t realize is that when you raise your rates, you also have to raise the value you’re offering.  And you’ll attract better clients.

Cinder Ernst, Member of the $10,000 per Month Club

Cinder Ernst, Member of the $10,000 per Month Club

I’ll share an example: When Cinder Ernst first attended the Client Attraction Summit, her life coaching business wasn’t going well.  She didn’t have many clients and had to support herself through her work as a personal trainer.

Through Thrive Academy Platinum, Cinder realized she could specialize in helping plus-size women heal their knee pain. So she created a home study course.  When she offers her VIP Heal Your Knee Coaching Program, she includes the home study course.  This is just one of many ways she has added value to what she offers. Her clients gladly pay her $5,000 for a 6-month coaching program.

2. Get More Clients

We could talk about this one for days, right? Isn’t this the first thing most coaches and holistic practitioners think of when they think about increasing their income?

If you’re struggling with how to attract more clients, there really are just a few ways that are effective to get more clients.  When you master at least one of these ways, you are guaranteed success.

In a recent video, I talked about the three “Points of Conversion.” If you remember, the point of conversion is that moment when a potential client says YES.

There are three different places people say YES:

A. 1-on-1 Heartselling™ Conversations

B. Group Teleseminars

C. Group Speaking

You’ve got to get crystal clear about the point of conversion you want to focus on.  In other words, you need to get clear about how you attract potential clients and how they will turn into paying clients.  Once you get clear, then you can get laser focused on getting more people to your point of conversion.

In our next blog post, you’ll discover HOW to get crystal clear on the best point of conversion for YOUR business.

And once you’re clear about your best point of conversion (it’s got to be fun—as you’ll read in next week’s article), you’ll want to gain mastery at it.

Let’s say, for example, you decide your best point of conversion is through 1-on-1 Heartselling™ conversations.  If right now, 1 out of 10 potential clients says YES to working with you, your conversion is low. But imagine if you had the skills to turn that number into 9 out of 10!  How would your impact and income increase?

Do the math and you’ll get excited.

3.  Have Clients Stay with You Longer

The last way to increase your income is to increase client retention and have people stay with you longer.

A big Aha for many coaches and holistic practitioners who attend the Client Attraction Summit happens when we suggest that you never offer just one session to a potential client.  Instead, we recommend you give people the opportunity to only work with you 1-on-1 through a package of sessions.

Packages give people the opportunity to work with you more deeply, so they get more transformation, and you get more fulfillment and income.

Here’s an example of how this works:

Sandy Zeldes, Member of the $10,000 per Month Club

Sandy Zeldes, Member of the $10,000 per Month Club

When Sandy Zeldes first attended the Client Attraction Summit, she could hardly get anyone to say yes to working with her at $60/hour.  She says she couldn’t even pay people to work with her.

Yet as she felt more confident with Heartselling™, and she started offering packages, instead of just one session at a time, more people starting saying yes.  Every time her practice got full, she raised her prices again.  And this kept happening again and again.

Last time we spoke, she was charging $4,500 for 12 sessions and her ideal clients are happy to pay her full rates.

Which one of these ways will you use to increase your income in 2015?  Or maybe you’ll be bold and go for all 3. We’ve seen many of our members go from struggling to $10,000 per month after they got clear on how they were going to increase their income and impact.

In next week’s blog post, you’ll discover how to get clear on which point of conversion is best for you and your business.

Is Your Business Vision Too Big Or Too Small?

Video Link: Is my business vision too big or too small?
Last week, we invited you to create a crystal clear vision for your business.

The question you might have now is: “Is my business vision too big or too small?”

In this week’s video, you’ll learn how to know when your business vision is “just right.”

Even when you’re Vision is “just right,” you can expect your Gremlins™ to start piping up and saying awful things about you.
(The Gremlin™ concept comes from Rick Carlson’s book, “Taming Your Gremlins™.” We think about your Gremlin™ as the voice in your head that tells you you’re not good enough (or other horrible insults) so you can keep from growing.

In the video, I (Sharla) share a 3-step process for neutralizing your Gremlins™.

Watch the video and tell us what you think.

And, in the meantime, tell us what you think in the comments below.

How we Balance Work, Parenting, and Romance

People often wonder how we are able to lead 18 live events each year (52 days total), lead a team of 17 people, have hundreds of high-end clients, and still make time for romance, our boys, and self-care.

We have to admit, it’s not always easy...

Especially, this past Monday.  It was our 7-year wedding anniversary.  We had planned to take the whole day for ourselves for a hot tub, long hike, and plenty of time for a roll in the hay. 🙂

But on Monday morning, we realized that we were going to have to choose between keeping our word to our clients or taking the day to celebrate our love.

Have you ever had to choose between a commitment to work and a commitment to the love of your life?

Ten years ago, when we first launched our business, working during our anniversary would have been no big deal.  Because there was so much conflict in our relationship, it was often easier for us to work instead of dealing with our emotions.

But these days, we actually love spending time with each other...  and we were both really looking forward to our anniversary.

Balance-Work

Before I share the big insight we had, I think it would be helpful for you to know what we promised our clients.

We promised this year’s Get Leverage Program would be simpler, more step-by-step, and much more doable than ever before.

The truth is, of all of our programs, Get Leverage has challenged our clients the most. More clients than I can count have made $10,000 (or more) in a month, through Heartselling™ (which we teach in the Client Attraction Summit and Client Attraction Mastery) and speaking to groups (which we teach in Six Figure Speaker). Only a few of our most successful clients have taken the Get Leverage strategies all the way to making millions of dollars.

But the potential of the Get Leverage program has always been there.  The principles we teach in Get Leverage are exactly what helped us reach over 25,000 people without burning out and make over $10,000,000.

We just needed to re-organize our Get Leverage strategies so even our most beginning clients could set themselves up to not have to trade time for dollars for the rest of their life. And our more advanced clients would also have the tools to launch their home study courses and high-end group programs in a big way.

Unfortunately, we were going to need most of our Anniversary Day to make that happen.

When we realized we were going to have to sacrifice either our integrity or our commitment to our love during our Anniversary, we were both quite upset.

“Seriously??? We’re going to spend our Anniversary working!?"

Until we had an insight...

What if we asked ourselves a more inspiring question than “Why do we have to work today?”

What if we asked ourselves: “How could we honor both our commitment to our clients and our love?”

From this inspired question came an inspired answer: “What if we work for a good part of the day and have our anniversary a week later?  And what if we added an overnight stay at a really luxurious hotel to our date?”

Suddenly our energy returned and with it, our excitement about re-inventing Get Leverage.

Because we had a turn-around, we are VERY excited to unveil a brand new Get Leverage to our clients tomorrow!

Now it's your turn: When you feel like you have to choose between work or love... how can you have BOTH???

Our Epic Failure

Our-Epic-FailureWhat separates successful people from the people who never quite make it?

It is what they do with their failure.

Do you learn from it? Or do you beat yourself up to the point where you never want to try again?

Successful people learn from their failures. And then they go for it again, equipped with more information that will help them succeed the second or the third or the fourth time.

Here's the short story of a recent epic failure:

Last week, we launched our brand new Client Attraction Mastery Home Study Course. And by our standards, it bombed. We've made over 10 Million Dollars in program sales over the years, so in our minds there is no reason we should have failed.

(And by failed, we mean that our results were 5% of what we projected.) Ouch!

It's been especially painful because Sharla poured her heart and soul into this Home Study Course. It's been her main project for the last several months.

Have you ever created something amazing and then felt so deflated when it wasn't received by the person/people you really wanted to share it with?

Nearly everything in this launch that could go wrong went wrong. There were about five major breakdowns, but the biggest breakdown happened during our webinar.

Our server couldn't handle the volume of people who were trying to get on the call and our participants were getting blocked from getting on the webinar and bumped off the webinar.

In the middle of our webinar, Sharla was furiously texting our team, but her texts were not going through... which distracted me so I was having a hard time forming congruent sentences and probably repeating myself... did I mention I was repeating myself a lot?

Even though we've led over 1,000 events and teleseminars, I STILL have a hard time concentrating when there are major distractions.

So here's what we learned:

1. Don't change everything at the last minute

Two days before the teleseminar, Sharla decided it would be more powerful to do this teleseminar as a webinar. She signed up for a new webinar service and promptly created about 90 powerpoint slides for the presentation. Our team scrambled to make the webinar happen, which led to our mistake of not having enough space on our server to handle the volume of people.

2. Be authentic about your breakdowns more quickly

When the breakdown with our server happened we didn't mention it until we had already lost our flow. Sharing the breakdown immediately would have allowed us to come up with a solution more quickly.

3. Take your launch as seriously as your content

Sharla took several months to make our Home Study Course impeccable. But we didn't put nearly the same amount of time, energy or attention to detail into the launch of the program.

We thought our passion would be enough and that the value would shine through. If we had it to do over again, I would have taken about five additional hours to go through our webinar notes to make sure the webinar was concise and highly valuable and that the offer was crisp and clear.

Bonus lesson: Never do a launch when Mercury is in retrograde. 🙂

We'd love to read your comments below... and if you've had an epic failure, we'd love to hear about it and what you learned from it.

3 Keys to Accomplishing Your Goals

Today, we’re going to share a concept that our Personal Development mentors will disagree with.  Yet, if you follow our advice, you’ll find yourself not only feeling much better about yourself, but you’ll also be accomplishing your goals much more quickly.

I (Jesse) remember the day I became a Yellow Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  I was 10 years old. Kiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! I cracked that board in half.  I felt invincible.

Accomplishing Your Goals

Minutes later, I was changing back into my regular clothes and two younger kids came up to me: “You are SO strong!!! How did you get to be so strong???”  Insteadof taking in their compliments I said, “You think I’m strong now; wait until I’m 11.”

This was my first memory of the belief that has run my life:
“Nothing I do is EVER enough.”

On one hand, I’m grateful for this belief.  It’s one of the reasons we’ve been so successful.
Because we are constantly “aiming for the stars and hitting the moon.”

For example, we’ve led nearly 200 events and at least 50 of these events have produced $100,000 or more in sales (in one weekend).  Most people would be THRILLED with these stats.

But when this belief is running me, I won’t celebrate until we finally have a Million-Dollar Event.

The self-development industry has fed this belief that “Nothing I do is EVER enough.”

Many of my mentors told me:
“You’re not thinking BIG enough!” And, “You’re playing too small!”

So every day, I put way more on my To Do List than I could possibly accomplish.

And despite accomplishing more in my average day than most people accomplish in a week, I’ve ended many days with an unsatisfied sigh…

Often, I started the following day feeling overwhelmed by the insurmountable challenges I’ve established for myself.

This reminds me of when we used to play the Darien Blue Devils, one of the best soccer teams in the country.  When we took the field, we KNEW we had no chance.  We were playing an UNWINNABLE GAME.

Yet we took the field anyway.  And we played our little hearts out.  And we got creamed, 11-0.
Luckily, we only played them once per year.  Imagine how you would feel if you did this to yourself every day!

Most Coaches and Holistic Practitioners do one of two things:

1) They set themselves up with UNWINNABLE GAMES and expect themselves to do way more than they could possibly do.

OR

2) They don’t set goals at all and let life take them by storm.

Either approach is devastating because it completely knocks the wind out of you and makes you feel like you’re losingand will NEVER catch up.  ENOUGH!!

Fortunately, there is an alternative approach.  This paradigm shifting approach will lead you quickly and joyfully to your success in three Easy and LIBERATING steps.
It’s time to start playing a different type of game… a WINNABLE GAME!

Here are the 3 Keys to Accomplishing Your Goals:

1.Create a Clear, Winnable Game

Choose three specific things you want to accomplish every day.

They don’t need to be big, but they do need to be clear and specific.
You need to be able to evaluate whether you’ve succeeded or failed at accomplishing them at the end of your day.

And, if you’re having a Heartselling™ Conversation with a potential client, it’s a great idea to call it a WIN because you HAD the conversation, NOT only when you got a new client.  (Developing this habit alone will help you start attracting the right clients.)

“Three Accomplishments each day make your Negative Gremlins Go Away.”
-Jesse Koren

2.Be Willing to Lower Your Standards

I hope I don’t get banned by the personal development gurus for saying this:

If you’re continually losing your games, then LOWER YOUR STANDARDS.  The experience and feeling of losing will soon become a habit after a while.  The same goes for winning.
The main way to develop the habit of winning is to… WIN!!!

Winning will create it’s own momentum and soon you will be accomplishing things you’ve never imagined.

“Choose battles big enough to matter and small enough to win.”
–Jonathan Kozol

3.Celebrate Small Accomplishments like you just won an Olympic Gold Medal

At our Six Figure Speaker event this past weekend, one of our members, Scott Sargeant, shared his amazing story.

In 1999, Scott was ranked Top 10 in the US for the Hammer Throw and was on track to make it into the 2000 Olympics.  Just months before the Olympics, he fell down a flight of concrete stairs and was instantly paralyzed from the neck down.  His doctors said he would never walk again.  He literally couldn’t move a finger.  But, using the visualization techniques he used to become an elite athlete, he shocked his doctors and walked out of the hospital 6 weeks later.  You can learn more about Scott at www.formerquad.com

Compared to this victory he told us nothing he accomplishes feels big enough or worthy enough of celebration.  He keeps setting himself up with UNWINNABLE games and feeling like he is constantly losing.

I invited him to celebrate even the most ridiculously small victories in his life.  I challenged him to walk back to his chair, and if he made it successfully to his chair without tripping, to celebrate his success like he had just won a Gold Medal.

He walked back to his chair (and did not trip).

When he got there, he let out a loud “Whoop!”  And the entire group of Six Figure Speakers stood up and cheered and celebrated.

It was both totally ridiculous and totally freeing at the same time.  The freedom comes when you stop expecting yourself to be superhuman all the time and you celebrate your small victories.

Now it’s your turn to use these three keys for accomplishing your goals and set yourself up for success.

Will you try it?
